TESTIMONIALS

“As a Reflexology Therapist, I was interested in taking Linda Baril’s Assisting Women Through Their Childbearing Year workshop for a couple of reasons.  First, because my daughter-in-law was pregnant and I hoped it would be beneficial in helping her through her labour and delivery. I also felt it would be a great addition to my Reflexology practice. Well, the course was beyond what I ever imagined.  Linda’s passion was contagious and the weekend was filled with so much information and true to life stories that made the learning exciting!  The manual that we were given is unbelievable!  I have taken many workshops in the past and this resource/manual is chalk-full of information, pictures and references! Linda’s workshop and passion have inspired me so much that I have moved forward and am taking a Birth Doula training now.  Linda continues to mentor and inspire me.  I am looking forward to taking more courses with Linda.”

“Linda’s workshop was eye-opening in so many ways.  Her passion for supporting childbearing women through pregnancy, labour/delivery and postpartum really comes through, inspired by her many years of experience.  I personally feel inspired and excited about bringing these new techniques into my Massage and Reflexology practice.  After several months of doing so, it has been a total game-changer!  This workshop lit a certain “fire” in me that reminded me why I do the work that I do and how important it is to support pregnant women and new moms.”

Linda was our doula in 2004. She worked seamlessly with us and with our midwife Deborah during an extremely prolonged labour and delivery. At such an intense and intimate time, her unspoken awareness of our needs was a true gift. Linda was there when my partner tired, her beautiful voice gave encouragement when I was tired, her hands held us in the ways we needed to be held, and her comfort with the birthing process gave us the courage we needed to continue without interventions. Linda has a magic all her own, and that magic includes knowing when to be present and when to stand back and give space. Added to this, few people have so genuinely shared our joy in the miracle of childbirth and the transformation it brought, both at the time of birth and in the years that followed. Those few days of labour and delivery brought us a lifelong friend, one we can never think of without gratitude and love.”

Linda was my ‘epidural’. She was emotional and physical pain relief wrapped into one beautiful, loving, supportive, calming package. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. I mean, sure, maybe I would have somehow gotten my gorgeous baby out of me…but it certainly wouldn’t have been via the beautiful, natural, spiritual, calm home birth that it was.

Linda’s support began long before labour. Her words of wisdom, her reflexology treatments and her regular check-ins made it so that I was going into birth with a calm and positive state of mind. I wasn’t scared anymore. She taught me to trust birth.

At the birth itself she was a pillar of my support that I could not have done without. Her calming presence, her relentless reminders to hydrate, and her physical touch cut my pain in half. She used pressure points on my back that eased the pain immensely the moment she applied the pressure. When my partner had to use the washroom, Linda was the one who held me up. She told me not to be scared when things were getting hard. Linda’s voice reminding me that I was doing a good job was ever present and always when it was needed.

In the days following the birth she check in on me regularly and provided me with therapeutic reflexology treatments.

I would never do birth without Linda.
